    Urban Center Books: Writers Talks

Alastair Gordon discusses his new book: Naked Airport: A Cultural History of the World’s Most Revolutionary Structure

Urban Center Gallery, 457 Madison Avenue at E. 51st Street.
The ultimate modern structure, the airport, is surveyed in cultural and historical context. Since its origins in muddy fields, the airport has become one of the defining institutions of modern life. Gordon ranges from geopolitics to action movies to the daily commute, showing how airports have changed our sense of time, distance, style, and even the way cities are built and business is conducted.

Unless otherwise noted, all Municipal Art Society public programs are free and take place in the Urban Center Gallery, 457 Madison Avenue at E. 51st Street. Please call 212.935.3960 for details.
